Honoring Their Service and Providing a Forever Home
Premiere Horse Stables in the Texas Hill Country for Retired Military Horses
Our Mission
At Horse-Soldier Equine, Inc., our mission is to provide a safe and supportive home for retired military horses who have dedicated their lives in service to our nation. These heroic horses deserve more than just a place to rest; they deserve a sanctuary where they can live out their days in comfort, care, and honor.
We are committed to ensuring these veterans of the equine world receive the respect and dignity they’ve earned through their years of loyal service.
Horse- Soldiers
A horse soldier traditionally refers to a cavalryman—someone who fights on horseback. In early American history, from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War, cavalry units played critical roles in reconnaissance, raiding, scouting, and fast-moving strikes. These mounted troops were often called "horse soldiers," and they symbolized speed, mobility, and shock power in battle. Today the U.S. military no longer relies on cavalry charges, but the spirit of the horse soldier survives in a much more ceremonial way. The U.S. Army maintains ceremonial horse-mounted units, such as the 1st Cavalry Division’s Horse Cavalry Detachment (Fort Cavazos, Texas) and the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment’s Caisson Platoon (at Arlington National Cemetery). These units preserve cavalry traditions, perform at parades and ceremonies, and keep the horsemanship skills alive.
Getting to know our Ranch
Horse-Soldier Equine, Inc. is located in the ghost town of Old Noxville, Kimble County, Texas. Situated in the Texas Hill Country, the stable and surrounding facilities are located on 200 acres of pasture dedicated to the horses in our care. The JF Parker Ranch is designated a Texas Historical Ranch by the State of Texas for having been in the same family for over 150 years. Fittingly the family has a history of service to the US Armed Forces dating from the Revolution to present. The ranch boasts two live-water springs that flow year-round and are accessible to the horses.
